Rskspvlffi� <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Department Approval <br />Date: 0110108 <br />Item No.: 5.a <br />City Manager 4pr oval <br />Item Description: Recognize and Accept Allina Medical Transportation's <br />Donation of a 1995 Ford Ambulance <br />BACKGROUND <br />On Wednesday, April 2, 2008, Allina Medical Transportation offered to donate a recently retired <br />1995 Ford box ambulance to the Roseville Police Department. Chief Carol Sletner saw the <br />donation of this retired ambulance as an opportunity to supplement the department's current police <br />fleet with an emergency command vehicle large enough to accommodate police command staff <br />during an emergency crisis. Because of the size and storage capabilities of this vehicle, it can be <br />stocked with materials and equipment to supply a squad of officers or a tactical team during any type <br />of emergency predicament. <br />POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />Not applicable. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />Prior to taking possession of this vehicle, city mechanics inspected the unit and found it to be in <br />excellent mechanical and structural condition with no need of repair. Prior to police use, the vehicle <br />will be painted flat black by Snelling Collision Center at a cost of $1900.00. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Chief Carol Sletner and her command staff recommend council accept Allina Medical <br />Transportation's donation to the Roseville Police Department. <br />REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION <br />Recognize and formally accept Allina Medical Transportation's donation of the 1995 Ford box <br />ambulance. <br />Prepared by: Lt.
