Date: 5/18/09 Item: 13.a Rskspac+Ey REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date: 05-11 -2009 Item No.: 13.a Department Approval Acting City Manager Approval 6 46�1 Item Description: Update to City Council on Code Enforcement actions taken to resolve current public nuisance violations at various Twin Lakes properties. 1 BACKGROUND z At the March 30, 2009 City Council meeting the Council directed staff to inspect the Twin Lakes s redevelopment area and act upon any public nuisances observed. Staff inspected the Twin Lakes area in a early April and observed the following violations: s o 2814 Cleveland Avenue (Dorso): s 0 Junk and debris. 7 0 Building in need of maintenance. s o 2001 County Road C (Roseville Properties): s 0 Building not secure. 10 0 Building in need of maintenance. 11 0 2690 Prior Avenue (P.LK): 12 0 Building not secure. 13 ■ Graffiti. 14 ■ Junk and debris. 15 ■ Building in need of maintenance. 16 0 2660 Cleveland Avenue (Roseville Properties): 17 0 Two buildings not secure. 18 0 Buildings in need of maintenance. 19 0 1947 County Road C (Roseville Properties): 20 0 Two buildings not secure. 21 0 Graffiti. 22 0 Buildings in need of maintenance. 23 On April 17th notices were sent to all property owners identifying observed violations and requesting 24 that public nuisances be corrected within 14 days. The notices addressed the more significant of the 25 issues such as: buildings not secure, graffiti and junk/debris. Building maintenance issues were deferred 26 in order to take care of the more imminent public safety issues first. 27 On May 5th, staff re- inspected each of the sites for compliance. Some of the identified public nuisances 28 had been corrected while some had not: 29 o 2814 Cleveland Avenue (Dorso) — violation not corrected. so 0 2001 County Road C — (Roseville Properties) violation corrected. 31 0 2690 Prior Avenue — (P.I.K.) violations corrected.
