i October 1981
ai
CASE NUMBER: 81 -1344
APPLICANT: American Legion
LOCATION: South of County Road cp Between Dale
Street and victoria
ACTION REQUESTED. Approval of sign variance
PLANNING CONSIDERATIONS
1, The American Legion has for manor gears owned and occupied approximately
a tern acre site between central Bark and County Road c, Attached is a
portion of the section map of this area of the City shoving the site
and its relation to contiguous properties. You will notice that the
access to this site off County Road C is a 60 foot strip 218 feet in depth
2. The American Legion has had a sign on the east side of the entrance for
many years located three foot six inches from the northerly property line,
The existing sign 1s seven foot six inches by five foot six Inches.
The Legion now proposes to construct a new more attractive sign, a sketch
of which is attached to this report. You will notice that the sheet on
which the sketch appears has been signed by members of the governing body
indicating their approval.
3. They propose to locate the sign ire the same location as the old sign, but
inasmuch as the 30 foot setback normally required was not adhered to in
the original sign, a variance is required as to sign location.
4. It would appear that the proposed sign is a considerable improvement over
the older sign, being a ground sign constructed of wood. The new sign
is approximately nine foot six inches by approximately six feet. The
property is zoned B -1 and would allow a sign o f 70 square feet,
