Department Approval <br />qASFAE-hE <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 1/23/12 <br />Item No.: 5 . c <br />City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: <br />RECOGNIZING AND ACCEPTING A DONATION FROM HUGH AND JULIE THIBODEAU <br />1 BACKGROUND <br />2 Longtime friends of the police department, Hugh and Julie Thibodeau, have donated $10,000 to the department to <br />3 fund the acquisition of a new K9 to replace retiring K9 Velo. The Thibodeau's are requesting that any funds not <br />4 needed to purchase a replacement K9 be placed in the police department's K9 fund for future use. <br />5 <br />6 OBJECTIVE <br />7 Allow the police department to accept the $10,000 donation from the Thibodeau's to be used by the police <br />8 department per the Thibodeau's request. <br />9 FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />lo There is no cost to the city. <br />11 STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />12 Allow the police department to accept the Thibodeau's $10,000 donation and recognize the Thibodeau's formally <br />13 to show our appreciation for their generous support of the police department. <br />14 <br />15 REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION <br />16 Request Council approval to accept the Thibodeau's donation and recognize the Thibodeau's to show our <br />17 appreciation for their generous support of the City's police department. <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />Prepared by: Rick Mathwig, Chief of Police <br />Attachments: A.
