<br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the city <br />council of the City of Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota was duly <br />held on the 12th day of December, 1988, at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The following members were present: Cushman, Matson, Kehr, Rog <br />and Johnson; and the following were absent: None. <br /> <br />Member Kehr <br />adoption: <br /> <br />introduced the following resolution and moved its <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 8392 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ADOPTING POLICY FOR NAMING PARK AND RECREATION FACILITIES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Roseville requested the <br />Roseville Parks and Recreation Commission to study and recommend <br />procedures for assigning names to Park and Recreation facilities: and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission surveyed several cities, <br />the National Recreation and Parks Association and the Minnesota <br />Recreation and Parks Association for recommended procedures: and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Roseville Parks and Recreation Commission, after <br />completing its study and deliberations, unanimously recommended the <br />aforementioned procedures: <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that <br /> <br />1. it shall be the policy of the City of Roseville to refer to the <br />Parks and Recreation Commission any activity involving the naming <br />or changing of names of any city-owned park or recreation <br />facilities: <br /> <br />2. the Commission shall recommend to the City Council for approval, <br />names for new sites, facilities or portions of facilities. This <br />includes any changes in names of existing facilities: <br /> <br />3. the naming of parks and recreation facilities will be given <br />consideration by the Parks and Recreation Commission based on the <br />following factors: <br /> <br />- natural habitat, such as vegetation, terrain, animals, etc. <br />- geographic location, such as street names, directions, etc. <br />appropriate nondescript terminology, such as acronyms or joining <br />of two words or names of activities, etc.: <br /> <br />4. only under significant and exceptional circumstances will <br />consideration be given to the names of individuals, alive or <br />deceased, and/or organized groups, associations or businesses.
