EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE * * * * * * * * * * * Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota was duly held on the 27th day of February, 1989, at 7:30 p.m. The following members were present: Cushman, Kehr, Johnson, Matson, and Rog, and the following were absent: None. Member Matson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 8423 ROSEVILLE REQUEST FOR LOCAL LODGING TAX WHEREAS, the Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission (MASC) has included the Minnesota Oval as part of the recommended 1989 bonding proposal; and WHEREAS, the construction of the Minnesota Oval would be of significant economic benefit to the State of Minnesota and particularly the Roseville lodging industry; and WHEREAS, a substantial portion of the operational costs of the Minnesota Oval multi-use facility will be obtained through fees and charges; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the city affirms its support for the construction of the Minnesota Oval in Roseville. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City requests legislation allowing for a room tax of up to two percent to be used to finance only operational losses of the Minnesota Oval sports and recreation facility. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member Kehr, and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Cushman, Kehr, Johnson, Matson, and Rog, and the following voted against the same: None. WHEREUPON said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
