<br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the city <br />Council of the City of Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota was duly <br />held on the 24th day of April, 1989, at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The following members were present: Johnson, Kehr, Cushman, Matson, <br />and Rog, and the following were absent: None. <br /> <br />Member Kehr introduced the following resolution and moved its <br />adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 8445 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING EFFORTS TO BAN IMPORTATION, DISTRIBUTION, <br />SALES, AND POSSESSION OF MILITARY ASSAULT WEAPONS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Roseville has great concern and responsibility <br />for the public safety of the citizens of Roseville; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, military assault weapons, such as the AK-47, AR-15, MAC-la, <br />MAC-II, Uzi, and all other similar military assault weapons, are a <br />threat to public safety and to peace officers who are charged to <br />protect public safety; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these military assault weapons were designed for military use <br />with no demonstrable uses by sportsmen and hunters; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Roseville urges and <br />supports the Congress of the United States and the Legislature of the <br />State of Minnesota in its efforts to ban the importation, distribution, <br />sales, and possession of such military assault weapons. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly <br />seconded by Member Matson, and upon a vote being taken thereon, the <br />following voted in favor thereof: Johnson, Kehr, Cushman, Matson, and <br />Rog, and the following voted against the same: None. <br /> <br />WHEREUPON said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. <br />
