MCORPORATEO
CONSULTING PLANNERS
ONE G R O V E LA N a TERRACE
MINNE POLISj. MINNESOTA SS403
612 +377 -3536
F'ebr'uary 1982
Mrs, Harold J. slawik
Roseville Central Park Foundation
1850 University Avenue
Saint Paul, Minnesota 55104
Dear Mrs. Slawik :
As you know, we have been involved in the planning and redesign effort
for Central Park and the handicap playground f a.c i l ity for several
'':months now. Design concept plans for the east side of the park
including the handicap playground have been completed, Contractor's
bids for the construction of the play structure have been submitted
and reviewed, by the City Park and Recreation Department, the Finance
Committee, and ourselves.
At the 21 January 1982 meeting of the Finance Committee these bids
were discussed. A member of our staff was in attendance at this
meeting to present our recommendation regarding these bids and a
summary of the work which remains to be done before the playground can
be constructed. Following some discussion, the Committee requested
that we submit a proposal to the Foundation to participate in the
completion of this work. This letter is in response to that request.
Since the 21 January meeting, we have discussed this matter with Frank
Rog and Charles Honchell to determine not only the most expeditious
and cost effective process for the completion of this work, but also,
what role we should play in the process. It has been our mutual goal
in this effort to maximize the participation of the City Parks and
Engineering staffs to keep costs down, However, we do feel that our
experience with the western side of Central Park, and our extensive
knowledge of the special characteristics of the handicapped playground
combine to rake us uniquely capable of coordinating this critical
phase.
Attached for your review and consideration is a copy of a memorandum
summarizing this planningr design, and construction process. As this
memorandum indicates, we propose to undertake four of the thirteen
remaining tasks which have been identified, Let me assure you that
we wish to continue to provide our services to you for as reasonable
a cost as we can and that we plan to continue to volunteer a portion
