REVIEWED/ RECOMMENDS'.
Roseville currently has nine voting precincts as shown on the attached map (Exhibit A).
The poll locations, number of registered voters as of May., 1982, 1980 population, and
legislative districts for ea-ch precinct are as follows:
Registered 1980 Legislative
Precinct, Location Voters Population District
1
McCarrons La ake School 2.9237 31P523 49A
2
North Heights School 2$904 4,237 48B
3
Lexington School 1.7483 2.399 64A
4
Lake Owasso School 21792 4,376 48B
5
liar Mar Shopping Center 3,V083 4A469 62B
6
Ramsey High School 33311 4,400 48B
7
Fairview Jr. High School 21%624 311795 48B
8
Johanna Jr. High School 2.9985 4P370 48B
9
Central ?ark School 2,0658 4;p251 48B
This past March, the Federal Court issued a reapportionment plan for all legis lative
districts in
the state. This plan includes Roseville in two districts, rather than
the previous
four (Exhibit B shows the new -legislative boundary in Roseville). The
new boundary
leaves all precincts intact, except precinct 5, which is cut in half.
State law requires that "no precinct lie in more than one legislative districtli
therefore, it is necessary to draw new precinct boundaries to coincide with legieslative
!.
boundaries 1P
. :- -- - F . I . -
In reviewing
possible alternatives, the following points were considered:
1) Precincts
I and 3 have contained significantly fewer registered voters than other
precincts
because they were part of leg'islative districts located primarily outside
Roseville,
and their boundaries could not be changed,
2) Precincts
5, 6, and 8 contain the largest number of registered. voters ,
3) The availability of a facility to be used as a voting poll within the proposed precinct.,
