.-EQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
■ ■
AGENDA SECTION'. ORIGINATING DEPT./DIV.: DEFT. HEAD APPROVAL.
REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS PUBLIC WORD L/
ITEM ® ITEM DESCRIPTION. i MGR. REVIEWED/ RECOMMEN(
SHORT, ELLIOTT, HENDR ICKSO N , INC.,
AGREEMENT R FULHAM STREET,, PROJECT P-82-17 . /
u
The council recently accepted a. petition for the proposed up-
grading of Fulham Street from T.H. 3 6 to Terminal Road. At
that time, a feasibility study was ordered. Due to the time
frames involved and the amount of work already being undertaken
by the city's engineering staff, it is desirable to have this
project done through a consulting engineer.
Discussions have been held with the firm of Short, Elliott,
Hendrickson, Incorporated, and a proposal has been received
which would result in that firm doing the work on a feasibility
study. At the request of S.E *H,, Incorporated, this contract
is slightly different than those used in the past, In this
case, the preparation of the plans and specifications and ad-
ministration of the contract would be done on a lump sum basis,
rather than using the consulting engineer's fee curve. The
amount of this lump sure agreement would be negotiated following
the feasibility study hearing and a clear determination of the
scope and extent of the project. This would require approval
by the council at that time.
Although this is somewhat different, it is an acceptable pro-
cedure from the engineering department's standpoint.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: - Motion authorizing the mayor and manager
to sign an agreement with the firm of
Short, Elliott, Hendrickson, incorporated,
to provide consulting engineering for
Project P-82-17, Fulham Street,
