R V / RECOMMENDS'. The Bureau of the Census is offering cl-ties the opportunity to participate in the P.4eighboyhood Statistics Program, which is a special tabulation of demographic, socio-economic., and housing data for neighborhood areas defined by the individual cities. This data cannot generally be obtained from otheT 1980 census data products. Participation in the program is free of charge. Requests for participation must b(,! received by July 2, 19824P To take part in-the Neighborhood Statistics Program, the City must submit a map showing a single s-et of neighborhoods with non-overlapping ' boundaries, . along with 2- statement officially recognizing them as the City's neighborhoods, Because the neighborhoods shown in the attached map are a -part- of our new comprehensive plan., and since we have already collected data based on those boundaries, it is suggestei that these neighborhoods be designated as the City's officially recognized neighborhoods, Council Action Requested: Motion to approve. the City's participation in the Neighboyhooi Statistics Program, and to recognize , the neighborhood areas shown in the attached map as the official City neighborhoods.
