CASE NUMBER: 1293-81 7 January 1981
APPLICANT , Cecil Sanders Page Two
ccmmuni ties do not allow for barber shops as a home occupation in a
res idential area y
4. Mr. Sanders notes that though the barber shop industry has a relatively
strong union, there is no retirement program except that which may be
established by individuals. This is , in fact, one of his reasons for
making this request,.
5. "though the application for ordinance change would apply to the entire City
and should be looked : a t in that context, you may wish to consider the
specific location Mr. Sanders has in mind. You will rote from the attached
sketch that his home is located on the west side of wilder Street about
halfway down the cul -de -sac off County Road D. At the southwest corner of
County Load D and Wilder Street there is a combined beauty parlor and
residence established as we recall approximately five or six years ago
this case, the beauty parlor portion of the property is zoned Limited
Business, and was legally established under the original provisions of the
Limited Business Zone as established in 1959.
6. In general, we are somewhat concerned about the prospects of establishing
Farber shops as a special use in R -1 a istric.ts . Hopefully, a discussion
with Mr. Sanders at the Planning Commission and Council hearings will be
helpful in assisting the Planning Commission and Council n arriving at
your decision.
