If a study detemines. a second golf course to be financially feasib14 <br />ind nothing is done for several years, the results of that study may <br />no longer be valid. <br />The acquison of the two homes and land which consistsof approximately <br />4 acres is an objective which should be retained. This should be a high <br />priority whether its realization is short or long term, A feasibility <br />study at this time may result negative recommendation for a second <br />golf course, but may not be the result of a study 5 or 10 years in the <br />future. <br />The major consideration at this time is the question of the two homes. <br />The possibility of a voluntary sale by the owners has not been pursuedl- <br />or authorized by the City Council,, If the possibility of a second gol <br />course is now being advancedin time, a determination should now be madl <br />is to the availability of the property (2 homes with 4 acres). 0 <br />103=6= <br />It is recommended that consideration of the above request be deferred <br />until the "availability" status of said property can be determined. <br />0 a A <br />Langton Lake Property Acquisiti 5 on. The Committee is recommending that the <br />ncil begin negotiations with We owner to acquire said property on a life <br />estate basi's "using '$100.000 which has been set aside as the City's share of <br />acquisition funds". <br />In 1979, the City submitted two grant applications for state and federa�. <br />funds for the following purposes: <br />a 0 0 * <br />One application was to finance the acquisition of property <br />adjacent to Langton Lake (Hebe parcel $127,500 and Hyman parce <br />$25,500) of an estimated total cost of $153,000. Local match <br />was to be provided from City funds. I <br />2. One application was to finance improvements in Central Park for <br />an estimated total cost of $200,000k, Local match was to be pro- <br />vided from Central Park Foundation funds and City funds depending <br />upon the amount of the grant award, <br />The City has been recently advised that both applications were denied. <br />As the Council recalls the City had levied nearly $100,000 to provide a <br />local match to a 50% state grant to acquire the Zuetel property on Chatsworth <br />Street, Total estimated cost of this property was nearly $200,000. The <br />Council ultimately decided not to acquire the property and the state grant <br />was returned to the State, <br />Therefore, $100,000 was available for other purposes. Subsequently, <br />additional funds were needed for the Ice Arena improvements and the Councle <br />author'ized $45,000 of the "Chatsworth" money to be used for those improve-1 <br />ments.
