ME <br />There are several private firms that would be able to provide whatever kind of <br />assistance is required. This includes everything from 'interviewing City officials <br />to determin topics, to analyzing and interpreting data or any one or more of the <br />steps mentioned above - <br />The cost of such assistance is., of course,, dependent on the extent of services used <br />and various other details such as sizeP mode and design of the survey. To try to get <br />a general idea of cost, it was proposed to them that they be involved in the whole <br />survey with the assumption that the questionnaire was 50 questions in length with <br />30 minute in-person interviews of about 500 households. Following is a breakdown of <br />their estimated cost by steps: <br />fopic and type of question development @ $50-$60 per hour $ 52000 <br />Total $192000 <br />This is an estimate and total costs could range between $15,000 and $25,000. As you <br />can see, the heaviest costs are associated with the use of personnel. <br />The least expensive source of assistance is the past experience of other communities. <br />Information in this report is gathered from this source and there are ample examples <br />of questionnaires and methods that have been used elsewhere, <br />It is reconunended that, should the Council decide to proceed with development of a <br />i izen survey, the Counc'l discuss the topics and types of information des*red. To <br />aid in this discussion a list of topics and question ideas for each topic is attached. <br />The list was developed based on sample questionnaires from other cities, as well as <br />suggestions made by department heads, <br />
