<br />ti fi ed as ST-79-14.. Only one bid was received for the impr oveuie nt and that being fro-in

<br />The Alta Vista pro eo l�. was bid in two forms by .A 1 ter nate bids. The first was to construct
<br />the line along Alta Vista and tunnel under a St, Paul main at a hid price of $30m122.35.
<br />This was considerably over the engineer's os ti mate by approximately $18,D00.0D, l ter-
<br />n u Le B was to take tie sanitary sower southerly to P i nevi ew Court with that bid being
<br />$17#418,50 vs the engineer's estimate Df $16,727.00. This route, however, proves to be
<br />a problem in that none of the property oviners along Pi nev i ew Court were , n Dt agr eeab .e to
<br />prov i (ii ng utility easement across their property for the sewer construction. A delay,
<br />there-fore, had occurred while a tte rip Ls were made to find yet apother alignment where
<br />eas ome nts could be secured. This has now been achieved over* the extremely long parcel
<br />owned by the Sch l os s2 r family that goes all the way to i)a l o St. The owners of the plat
<br />have been contacted and a r 2 agreeable to the realignment. Also , the contractor has-been
<br />cart ao tell and i's agrec�abl a to a change ar der to rn'odify his proposal to conform to this
<br />new 1 acati on , The work is 8 ti 1 l expected to occur~ this year. the RMOT]nt Df work , i n-
<br />c l ud i n g the Change Order occu'rrod , would result in a bid price of $19,X54,90. Consider-
<br />ing the fact that the number of lineal �cet of sanitary sorer be constructed a 1 ang
<br />the new plan is 933 feet ,or a 1Tr.os t 60 g mater^ than th o 571 original feet, this
<br />seerps quite reasonable. the appropriate action would, therefore, be to accept bid for
<br />Al Ler n ate 8 for this praj ec L and then execute Change Order No. 1 to cover the real i qn -
<br />men t
<br />The second Prof ect at Co - Rd, H - 2 for, Lex i ogtori a ad O fo rd has a bi d of 43 � 728. 10, kph i ch
<br />is well over the engineers esti rate of $35,600.00. The owners were contacted on this
<br />and it was their opinion that they pro -ul d rather wait and have the project rebid th i s
<br />winter for cGnstruoti oa next year wji th the hope that by d-a i ag it at that time, pia re com-
<br />petition and bidders would be achieved and , therefore, a lower price
<br />The last prajcct Ova 5 for the storm sewer on Ham 1 i oc Avepue 79--14 where, once again,
<br />the bid of $16,222.00 Oval well over the engineer's estima-te of $12,794.00. Again,
<br />Michels Construoti an WaS contacted and they preferred to have the project r eb i d this
<br />winter, hoping fur mDre competition and lower prices.
