Roseville Area Schools - ISD 623 Capital Improvements Program <br />We have reviewed the Capital Improvements Program for the period through <br />1-983-1984 prepared by I 623. The School District currently operates <br />two senior high schools, three junior high schools, nine elbmentary <br />schools, and a central administration building. The central administration <br />build='g, one senior high school, two junior high schools, and five <br />elementary schools are located within the City of Roseville. <br />The School District has adopted a five year school us'eage plan including <br />a school closing plan and a change to the middle school concept with grade <br />organization of K-5. 6-8,v and 9-12. As part of this program, three <br />elementary schools are programmed for clos:'Lng as follows: <br />Lake Owasso 1979 <br />McCarron's Lake 1980 <br />North Heights. 1981 <br />In addition, a fourth elementary school may be closed by 1983-1984. One of <br />the three junior high schools will also be closed, although the decision has <br />not been made as to which facility will be closed. - <br />The projected utilization of capacity for the schools taking into account <br />school closings is shown below: <br />CAPACITY UTILIZATION SUMMARY <br />1973-1974 1978-1979 1983-1984 <br />Elementary 92% 87% 93% <br />Junior High 98% 77% 78% <br />Senior High 103% 95% 80% <br />Future enrollment projections show a continued decline from B,965 pupils in <br />1979-1980 to 7,365 pupils in 1982-1983 and 5,877 pupils in 1987-1988. Both <br />senior high schools will be kept open. The middle school grade organization <br />is scheduled to start in 1981-1982. <br />
