REQUEST FOR COUNCIL —ACTION <br />The 1979 Budget contained funds for the replacement of a 25 year- old oil distributor. <br />Bids were received on March 7. 1979 with two proposals received for the distributor <br />and pump and four bids for the three ton truck upon which- It would be mounted. <br />IM$Wdx <br />1. Ruffri'dge-Johnson for a Rosco Model RRH Net price.$12,433,00 <br />Hayden Murphy Co. for a Seaman Model 1500 Net price $15,980,00, <br />Superior Ford for a I Ford Model C700 Met price $16,097,00 <br />■ Boyer Ford for a Ford Model C700 Net price $16,173,91. <br />3. Midway Ford for a Ford Model C700 Net price $16,,450,78, <br />International HarVester Co. for Int. Harv. CO-1710B Price $18,490,00. <br />As can- be -seen, the, low bid for the distributor unit is from Ruff ri dge-johnson and <br />the low bid for the three ton truck f 6m Superior Ford, The distributor met' all <br />spetifications ..and, has no problems. The three ton trudk bid from Superio-r had a <br />minor discrepancy in -the amount of the.rear spring s'trength but contact has con- <br />firmed that the specified strength i's to be provided and at the bid price, <br />There is some concern because ' the Minnesota PICA is consicering banning the use of <br />the oil distolate used in the sealcoating process. The alternative methods that <br />are anticipated to replace this ofl distolate, however, would still be applied by <br />this type of distributor. <br />The combined bids are approximately over the prices estimated in the-prepar- <br />ation of the 1979 equipment replacement fund, but the-se bids are reco' en <br />, ded for <br />acceptance, mri <br />RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION-:' Approval of a motion declaring Ru'ffridge-Johnson <br />Equipment Company, to be the low bidder for a <br />bituminous distributor at a net cost of $12,443.00, <br />and Superior Ford to be the low bidder for a three <br />ton truck in the amount of $16,097,00 <br />
