October 23 1978 <br />TO: Roseville City Council <br />'ROM: Roseville Clover 41 CluE <br />�E Community Serv'ce Project <br />The Roseville Clover 4H Club would like to contribute to the improvement <br />and beautification of Roseville by offering a communi I ty service project. <br />Our project is in grateful response to the support and encouragement <br />shown by the people of Roseville during the Bicentennial. to our "Many <br />Faces of Women" program and our trl*p to Washington D.C. and Philadelphia. <br />On the advi se of - Steve North Assistant City Manager, the area we have <br />w <br />selected is the knoll at the north end of Civic Center Dr' <br />i ve, Our <br />proposal is to beautify-this area by the addition of trees, shrubs and <br />flowers. A preliminary plan will be presented at the City Council <br />meeting on October 23. <br />Our club is prepared -to provi-de labor and some materials plus we hav4 <br />budgeted about $200.00 for purchase of trees, shrubs and flowers, <br />This project will be an educational project for our Club as welI as <br />community service. At the present time various 4H members are doing <br />research on recommended trees, shrubs and flowers to be planted. A soil <br />test has been made and planting infomation is being studied, <br />Ile have also sought the professional advice and assistance of Jane McKinnon= <br />Extension Horticultural Specialist, U of M and Joe Peterson, Ramsey <br />County Agent plus a wealth of U of Minn. bulletins. <br />A complete pl'an will be prepared and presented to you for approval some- <br />time this winter.o <br />The proJect has already been started by the moving of compost to th <br />4 a <br />site. We would also like to plant tulips this fall foir sprin bloo <br />however, the majority of the 'Planting and work will be done the <br />spring of 1979. <br />
