<br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING <br />OF THE <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br /> <br />* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City <br />of Rose vi lIe, Minnesota, was duly held at the City Hall in said City on Monday, Aprilll, <br />2005, commencing at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />The following members were present: Ihlan, Maschka, Schroeder, Kough and Klausing <br />and the following were absent: none. <br /> <br />Member Klausing introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION No. 10292 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OPPOSING ELIMINATION OF BUS ROUTES IN ROSEVILLE <br /> <br />WHEREAS the Metropolitan Council proposes to eliminate all but one of Roseville's <br />circulator bus routes, and reduce service on the remaining route, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS: many residents of senior housing and nursing homes have no other means of <br />transportation other than circulator buses which provide needed transportation to health <br />care clinics, banks, grocery stores and shopping centers; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS: employers in the City of Roseville and surrounding communities rely on <br />public transportation to provide a low cost, environmentally sound way of help <br />employees get from home to work and back again; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS: the cost of fuel continues to increase, creating an undue burden on people of <br />low income. <br /> <br />WHEREAS the circulator bus routes are essential to maintaining an effective transit <br />system in the city of Roseville; <br /> <br />THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Roseville City Council hereby expresses its strong <br />support for maintaining Roseville's circulator bus routes. The Roseville City Council <br />respectfully asks the Metropolitan Council to reconsider the proposed elimination of <br />Routes 223, 224, 225 and 226 and proposed service reduction on Route 227, and to work <br />toward an alternative transit budget that preserves Roseville's circulator bus routes. The <br />Roseville City Council also respectfully asks Governor Tim Pawlenty and the Minnesota <br />State Legislature to provide adequate funding for Metro Transit and other local transit <br />systems, so that bus service reductions and route eliminations can be avoided. <br />
