rtlsgo
3 C
Recommendations for 2012 Monitoring Program
The concrete anchors in the storm pipes were left in place for ease in re- locating the mounts for future
equipment installation. In addition, stainless steel screws were left in select mounts near the inverts of the
pipes where debris typically clogs the mounts.
Equipment Repair/ Maintenance
While removing the mounting screws from one of the area velocity probes (AN probe), the screws broke
off inside the probe. If the probe is to be used in the future, the probe will either have to be hose clamped
to a mounting bracket or the screws will need to be extracted or drilled out and re- threaded. The cheapest
alternative is to hose clamp the probe to a bracket. If re- conditioning of the screw mounts is desired,
Teledyne Isco can repair the mounts for $300 -400.
The plastic sample bottles within each Isco 6712 sampler will need to be cleaned before they are used
again. These bottles should be cleaned using a small brush and a mixture of distilled water and Liquinox®
(a mild detergent). After scrubbing, all bottles should be rinsed with distilled water. Also, the external
desiccant packs should be re- conditioned before future use.
Additional Monitoring
A limited flow and water quality dataset was collected in 2011. It is recommended that monitoring
continue in 2012 to build upon the water quality database for future monitoring and modeling efforts. The
additional monitoring would expand the dataset which could be used in trend analysis and P8 model
calibration. A tipping bucket rain gauge should be installed near one of the monitoring sites to obtain
rainfall intensity and hourly totals to aid in calibration of the model. Monitoring should be planned during
the spring and summer months when there is typically a greater frequency of storm events to sample.
Emmons & Olivier Resources, Inc.
651 Hale Ave N, Oakdale, MN 55128 p: 651.770.8448 f: 651.770.2552 www.eorinc.com
