The four areas specified are noted with numbers on the enclosed set of plans.

1. Check the south glulam beam of the upper floor opening to see if an intermediate post is
required. The beam was not originally designed to carry the wall above. At this location, an
intermediate post is not required. The 3.25" x 12.25" glulam beam is structurally capable of
supporting the wall above.

2. Check the L VL floor beam at the north end of the upper level for support of the north wall.
The (2) 1 %" x 11 7/8" L VL' s are adequate to support the upper level north wall.

3. Check the east glulam beam supporting the upper level to see if an intermediate post is
required. This beam supports the beam in item #2. An intermediate post is not required to
support this 3.25" x 12.25" glulam beam.

4. Check the beam and supports for the (2) 1 3,4" X 11 7/8" L VL's supporting the roof that ties
the new addition to the existing house. The beam is supported by the new concrete wall at the
west end, a post and transfer beam near the center and by (3) individual 2x4 studs at the east end.
The 2 span beam has enough capacity to carry the roof framing. The bearing is adequate on each
end of the beam. The midspan post is (2) notched 2x4' s which bears half on a 1 %" x 11 7/8"
