If you send a PR T network map for your community
(or your favorite community), then I will post it here with your description. To assist you in making these maps, we have
written up a on how to design a PR T network.

To start you all off, I did a PRT net\vork map for my home town (Roseville, MN, USA).

Roseville, MN,
USA

Roseville has always been known for
its malls and my design tries to
maximize access to these malls and
minimize the problems associated
with that access. Because the malls
are now only accessed by automobile,
the streets bordering these malls are
usually a mess of traffic. This design
would allow people to park at one
shopping location and then ride PRT
to get to any other, thus getting cars
off of these roads. Also some of the
space that is dedicated to parking
could perhaps be reclaimed as green
space as overflow for one mall's
parking could be the parking lot of
any other mall on the network. A neat
feature of this design is that the one
station at Rosedale is inside the mall.

Total Mileage: 4 miles
Stations: 12
Estimated Cost: 4 x 6 + 12 x.7 =
32.4 million
Expansion: The network could be
expanded in all directions very easily.
A line could be run down Snelling
Ave to the south to run a line to the
State Fairgrounds and fUll back up
north on F airview A venue. As it is
now these malls are used for
park-n-ride buses. Also the network
could be expanded to the north on
Snelling to another strip mall and
food strip just north of this map.

Click on the

for a closer look.

Bloomington,
MN, USA

by

by

1/24/2005 7:32 AM
