City Council Regular Meeting - 01/31/05 Minutes - Page 22 membership for a three week duration, and purpose statement, for the James Addition and Snelling Avenue reopening Task Force. Councilmember Kough's proposed initial members included: Frank Rog, former Mayor of Roseville; Dan Stock; owner of The Press Gym; Karen Olson, Manager of Roseville Bingo; Anneliese Soldner, Associate Executive Director of the Sunrise Care Center; Gene Pedersen, James Addition resident; Al Sands, James Addition resident; Harlan Floden, James Addition resident; and staff member Duane Schwartz, Public Works Director. Mayor Klausing questioned the process for creation of this Task Force, envisioning it be set up with a specific charge; solicitation of applications; and whether the City should be appointing the Task Force depending on their purpose; opining that the process appeared unfocused and unclear as proposed. Councilmember Kough opined the urgency of the issue; and his intent for the proposed Task Force in identifying options in an advisory capacity. Kough moved, Ihlan seconded, endorsement of the proposed Task Force to serve in an advisory capacity. Mayor Klausing questioned whom they were to advise. Councilmember Kough clarified that they would report directly to the City Council. Councilmember Ihlan opined that this idea had been generated at the James Addition neighborhood meeting several weeks ago; and further opined that she would like to see it move forward with the task force; and further expand their scope and clarify their purpose at a later date. Councilmember Ihlan noted that attempts were ongoing to involve participation of representatives of Ramsey County and possibly MnDOT decision-makers. Councilmember Ihlan suggested that the task force be created at tonight's meeting; and at the next regularly scheduled Council meeting, a more detailed report on how to solicit members be discussed.
