REViEWEO/RECOMMENDS: <br />The federal government has enacted in�o law a grant pragrar� designed to create <br />jobs through funding of public works projects. The princTpai factor determining <br />grant awards will be unemplayr�ent rates for a designated project area. An applz-- <br />cani (city} can define a project area �ri�icn extends beyond its municipal bounda- <br />ri es (ti�rhi ch i n effect says tha'� �he ci ty tiii 71 be dratiri ng on that defi ned area <br />for workers ) . <br />There are two possible prajects tvhich -�he council may wish to consider submit�ing <br />an applicatian, - remode1ing af the old city ha71 and s�orm sewer costs which are <br />proposed for District Numbzr One. <br />If tliz council titishes to submit an applicatior�, the �ollowing actions are sugqested: <br />1. Motion authorizing the Mayor to sign an application for <br />funds to remodel the old city ha11, Pro,�ect f�-7b-21, and <br />�onstruct six (6) storm sewers, Project ST--77-A, as part <br />of the Publ i c I,Jarks Empl oyment Act o'F 1976. <br />�. Motion auiharizing the P9anager to expend funds not exceed- <br />ing � for professional assistance in <br />pre�aring the grant application. <br />Additianal informa�zon wili be provid�d at fhe council rr�eting re7ating to cas�s„ <br />
