REVI,�NlED/ RECOMh1END5: <br />In �ovember of i975, the city received a report on the city's water system <br />from the consulting firm of Banister, Short, E7liott, Hendrickson and Associates. <br />Inc�uded in that report was a listing of missing ]inks in the city's distribution <br />system. On�e such piece is a7ong Rice Stree� from Nlinnesota Avenue to 2p0 feet <br />north of Grandview Avenue. <br />Farly this year, Ban Co�, Incorporated, came in with plans to develop this area <br />aiong Rice Stree� and included was the need to provide water services �o the <br />]ots fronting Rice S�reet between Niinnespta and Grandview Avenues. It was dis- <br />cussed with them that this wouid be the appropriate time to install the 1ir�k of <br />the connection system which would double as the facilities to serve these two <br />lots. 8an Con r�epresentatives concurred in this thinking, but we were r�ot sure <br />whether they would rat�er �ave the waterline put ir� as part af their own cnntract, <br />or pui in as part of the city assessment. � <br />Ban Con has now awarded �he contract for the latiiity work on their deve]opment <br />and have not included this watermain as part of it. It wou7d, therefore, be ap- <br />propriate �o mave as soon as passible to have it put in as a city project to the <br />assessment procedures. Because s�veral other hearings are a7ready scheduled for <br />May ]0, it would seem very desirable to hald this hearing.ai the same �ime. To <br />do this, it is necessary far the cour�cil to authorize the staff to undertake a <br />feasibiii.ty study on the project so tha� th�s can be reported back to the council <br />at its next meeting �o formally estab7ish a public hearing. <br />RECOENMENDED ACTIUN� Adaption of a resolution formal]y authorizing the Public <br />Works Depart�ent �o undertake a feasibility s�Cudy for the <br />instal7atzon of a watermain alonq the west side af Rice <br />Street from Minnesota Avenue to approximate7y 200 feet <br />north of Grandview Avenue, identified as Praject l�-76-1Q. <br />,�r � � <br />�- <br />
