A copy of their letter is attached. <br />Tnis condition has been continuin� to �rorsen and attempts have been made in �e pasi <br />to have maintenance activities �ndertaken on t�is ditcn system but it ►�ras not possi- <br />b1e to �ave contrac�ors perform tn�s work ti�ithout going through the bidding process <br />and bindi�g tnem to performance bonds. P�are recent insp�ctions hav� sho4�rn severa7 <br />feet of very larg� storm se►���r pipe pulled apart �ay several inches and cans�der^able <br />eros�on and sedimentation taking place. To correct t�is situation, i� is es�imat�c� <br />that a contract will have ta be let arith ar� �xpenditure o� approximately �1Q,7�0.00 <br />underta�:en. If this project is acted u��r� proe�ptly, it is hoped tE�at it caR be com- <br />plet�d tt�is fali so that nexi spring's rains wauld not cause furtiler deterioration <br />of the situation before it can be cor�^ected. <br />The original project was c#one b� an assessrr�ent procedure with sone limi�ed irunk <br />b�nefits assessed. It is not anticipaied tilat this maintenance type project 4rould <br />b� assessed. Discussions with �he Financ� Director indicate that tf�e Consolidated <br />Cons-�ruc�ion Fund is the appropriate source for monies to do this v�oric and tnat <br />adequate_levels exist in this fund to p�rform tr�e activity.
