<br />Regular City Council Meeting - 03/29/04 <br />Minutes - Page 10 <br /> <br />3.p <br /> <br />Adopt a Resolution to Authorize City Participation in <br />Joint Application for a GIS Technical Opportunities <br />Program (TOP) Grant for Community Development <br />and Economic Development Projects <br />Maschka moved, Schroeder seconded, adoption of <br />Resolution No. 10211 entitled, "Resolution Authorizing a <br />Letter of Support for a Technical Opportunities Program <br />(TOP) Grant from the United States Department of <br />Commerce. <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Ihlan, Kough, Maschka, Schroeder and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />Items Removed From Consent Agenda for Further <br />Discussion <br />Mayor Klausing requested that staff include an Agenda Item on <br />future agendas for discussion of those items removed from the <br />Consent Agenda; preferably immediately following the Consent <br />Agenda. <br /> <br />3.i <br /> <br />Approve Purchase of Litter Trash/Vacuum Machine <br />Public Works Director Duane Schwartz reviewed staff s <br />objective in purchasing a one operator trash/litter vacuum <br />machine for regular litter cleaning schedules for road <br />right-of-ways, streetscape areas and the City Civic Center <br />site; with availability to other City departments for clean <br />up after events in parks, parades or other special events. <br />Mr. Schwartz noted that the equipment had additional <br />attachments that would make it versatile and allow fewer <br />staff resources to be used for ongoing clean up processes. <br />Mr. Schwartz advised that the City currently uses services <br />of Ramsey County Sentence-to-Serve programs for <br />seasonal clean up; and several machines had been <br />demonstrated for Street Department personnel, and this <br />machine appeared to be the most applicable to the City's <br />needs; was on a State Contract that would be expiring <br />soon; and that this particular unit was being recommended <br />by staff. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough expressed concern that the <br />machine was adequately sized and suggested the Council <br /> <br />Resolution 10211 <br />Joint Application <br />for a GIS Technical <br />Opportunities <br />Program (TOP) <br />Grant for <br />Community <br />Development and <br />Economic <br />Development <br />Projects <br /> <br />Items Removed <br />From Consent <br />Agenda for Further <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Approve Purchase <br />of Litter <br />Trash/Vacuum <br />Machine <br />
