<br />Regular City Council Meeting - 03/08/04 <br />Minutes - Page 18 <br /> <br />Councilmember Maschka initiated discussion on whether the <br />City Council should consider a moratorium to allow further <br />study of whether crematoriums should be considered appropriate <br />in residential areas. <br /> <br />City Attorney Scott Anderson provided information, specific to <br />State Statute 462.355 and municipal zoning and city authority. <br />City Attorney Anderson expressed concern that current litigation <br />related to this matter was still technically in litigation, pending <br />con1pletion of the appeal process, and recommended that the <br />Council delay any action at this time. <br /> <br />Councilmembers concurred. <br /> <br />No action taken. <br /> <br />9. <br /> <br />Calling Special Town Hall Council Meetings for Saturday, <br />April 3 and Monday, April 26, 2004 <br />City Manager Beets noted that this was the final process for the <br />planning efforts discussed at the Special Council Meeting held <br />on Saturday, February 7, 2004 at the Harriet Alexander Nature <br />Center, to facilitate long-term strategic planning. Mr. Beets <br />further noted that four (4) Town Hall meetings were originally <br />planned, but due to scheduling conflicts, staff was <br />recommending that two (2) be held this year, on the dates, times <br />and locations as noted on the staff report dated March 8, 2004. <br /> <br />Maschka moved, Kough seconded, moved to call special Town <br />Hall Council meetings on Saturday, April 3, 2004 from 9:00 to <br />11:00 a.m. at the Fairview Community Center, 1910 West <br />County Road B; and Monday, April 26, 2004 from 7:00 to 9:00 <br />p.m. at Parkview Center School, 70 1 West County Road B, <br />respectively. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder noted that he was supportive of the <br />concept of Town Hall meetings, but not the timing of the April 3, <br />2004 meeting held prior to the Special Election on April 20, <br />2004. <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Ihlan, Kough, Maschka, Schroeder and Klausing. <br />Nays: Schroeder. <br /> <br />of Councilmembers <br />Relating to a <br />Possible <br />Moratorium on <br />Crematories <br /> <br />Calling Special <br />Town Hall Council <br />Meetings for <br />Saturday, April 3 <br />and Monday, April <br />26,2004 <br />
