As s�own on ff�e sketch at the left, the School District owns the property <br />north of the half street in question and the 9 lots of Block 1 south of the <br />propased street vacatian. A cul-de-sac is currently under construcfiion io <br />serve lats 10 through 15 of Bloc�C ] as shown on the sEcetch. This cul-�de-sac <br />will extend westerly from Fairview Avenue between the lots and the property <br />owned by the C�urch of Corpus Christi . <br />2. Yov will note from the layout of the turnaround at the end of the cul-de-sac <br />thai' a small triangle af lot 9 wil[ be needed fo�- this righfi-of-way, which is <br />120 feef in diameter in accardance with current city standards. A large <br />scale layout of fihis cu[-cie-sac will be availab[e ai- the public hearing. <br />3. The legal description for the vacation requesf takes ifi easterly to the east line <br />of lof 9. You will note from the sketch that this extends into the proposed <br />cul-de-sac. A more exact description should be prepared vacating Skillman <br />only up to the west line of the cu�-de-sac. As a condition, the School <br />District should be required to dedicaie thai- friangular partion of lot 9 necessary <br />for the cu�-de-sac. <br />4. The School District has been required to pay the norma{ $100 fee for the application <br />for vacai'ion. We undersi'and that the School District has suggested that the <br />City pay $i00 for that triangular portion of lot 9 required for the cul-de-sac <br />right-of-way. Actually, it is the consiruction of the cul-de-sac that maices <br />it possible to consider the vacation of Ski[Imrsn Avenue. It would seem that <br />the small area of right-of-way required from lot 9 is a reasonabie concession <br />for the vacatian of the remainder of Skiflman to the west of t�e cul-de-sac. <br />It shovEd be noted that in some cities (St. Paul for instanc�) approval of a <br />vacation of public right-of-way is accompanied by a charge equivalent to <br />the market value of the land. <br />� v . � � � c ��..� �-� , :� . <br />
