As we <br />in�orzned the Counci� in May, Joe B�ttendorf was unab3.e to <br />negotiate these two easements and we p�aced the matter in <br />candemnation after Caun.cil appraval. <br />Previous to commencement of condemnation, Bettendorf had <br />o�fEred $50Q to each owner, which had been �refused_ The <br />offear of $500 was based upon the owne�s having, wi�hin the <br />a�ea taken, gardens, bushes, and oth�r above grade ].and- <br />scapi.ng. Prior �o conde�nxzation, we received no counter o�fer <br />Iess than $�,000 �rorn the owners. <br />After condemnation, the owners hired attorneys, and have agre�d <br />to the appraisal principals of Mr. Bettendar�, and both owners <br />ha.ve now agreed to accept the sum of $750.00. Mr. Bettendorf <br />and I concur that this �wauld }�e a. cost sava.ng to the City and <br />is wi-�hin reasonable con�ines o� Mr. Bettendoxf`s original <br />appxaisal. If the Council concuxs, w� request -�he fo].lov,ring <br />motion: <br />"z move that on Imp. 72-7.7, that the <br />City pay owners of Easement 7 and 10 <br />the sum of $750.�0 each �or road �ase- <br />nnents .
