Gasaway is the lone finalist in the search for a new Bnrnsville fire chief. <br /> <br />Gasaway will now meet with City Manager Craig Ebeling, who will make the hiring decision. <br /> <br />The new chief will replace Ron Payne, who retired at the end of May. Assistant Chief Steve Harklerode, who's been acting chief <br />in Payne's absence, didn't apply for the top job. <br /> <br />None of the 10 applicants were from the department, said Jill Hansen, director of human resources. <br /> <br />Three of the 10 were invited for interviews Monday with a panel of department members and a panel of community and city <br />government representatives. Each candidate also gave a presentation to the City Council. <br /> <br />Gasaway was the clear favorite of all the groups, Hansen said. <br /> <br />He's been Roseville's chief siuce 1999 and was chief of the Springfield Township Fire Department in Akron, Ohio, from 1990 to <br />1999. <br /> <br />,asaway earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from West Virginia University in 1983 and a master of business <br />_dministration from the University of Dayton in 1989. <br /> <br />"t, <br /> <br />His career in firefighting and emergency medical service began in 1979 in Weirton, W.Va., where he served unti11987 with the <br />Ambulance and Rescue Squad and Fire Department.
