<br />City Council Study Session - 04/19/04 <br />Minutes - Page 18 <br /> <br />Sergeant Johnson roughly calculated that determination could be <br />preliminarily based on the number of radio u?its multiplied by <br />$3,100.00, plus: additional fees estimated at $100 per radio, <br />Minnesota Radio Board fees of approximately $50 per unit, and <br />cost of installation in the vehicle at an estimated cost of $100 - <br />160 per unit. <br /> <br />Sergeant Johnson addressed costs for dispatch services, <br />estimated by Paul Kirkwold, at the current $180,000 expenditure <br />or more. <br /> <br />Assistant Fire Chief Tim Q'Neillnoted that the Fire Department <br />was continuing to seek fire grant funds to apply to their portion <br />of the cost. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing thanked staff participants for the update; noting <br />consensus appeared to be to direct staff to continue researching <br />the viability of the Ramsey County 800 MHz radio system; <br />reiterating the need for staff to continue aggressive <br />representation of the City's interests within the group. <br />Councilmembers concurred. <br /> <br />5. <br /> <br />Consider Items Removed from the Consent Agenda <br /> <br />4.d <br /> <br />Approve MnDOT Traffic Control Signal Agreement <br />No. 86375R, Lydia and Snelling Signal Reconstruction <br />Project <br />Councilmember Kough advised that he had received <br />comment from constituents regarding increased traffic in <br />the area of Lydia and Snelling due to increased enrollment <br />at Northwestern College; with traffic backing up on Lydia <br />from Snelling to Fairview due to a one-lane turning lane <br />with left-turn traffic impeding eastbound traffic on Lydia. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Duane Schwartz advised that he <br />had spoken with Mr. Moeller and the concerns expressed <br />should be solved with the new signalization requested in <br />tonight's action.
