Mr. Brokke <br />further reviewed the process in coming to this recommendation, <br />including I) a review of City policy for naming parks; 2) <br />solicitation of neighborhood suggestions; 3) discussion of the <br />property's history; and 4) discussion of name options. <br /> <br />Discussion included other name options considered; community <br />response and comment; and future planned aesthetics at the pond <br />overlook area. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing noted that, since this is a study session, action <br />on naming the park would be considered at a future business <br />meeting. <br /> <br />No forn1al action was taken. <br /> <br />13. <br /> <br />Hear a Report about the Deer Population in Roseville <br />Parks and Recreation Director Lonnie Brokke reviewed his <br />department's assessment over the last year regarding residential <br />concerns about an increasing deer population within the City. <br />Mr. Brokke advised that the City had taken advantage of an <br />opportunity in February of2004 to participate in an aerial flyover <br />for a deer population count. Mr. Brokke noted that findings were <br />that there didn't appear to be a high deer population in the <br />community; noting that while the flyover was not scientific in <br />nature, a total count of 36 deer were reported during the flyover. <br />Mr. Broldce briefly reviewed the concentrated locations of the <br />deer sightings. <br /> <br />Mr. Brokke noted that, while his office had not received a great <br />number of calls, residents appeared to be most concerned about <br />damage to their gardens; and safety concerns, with a report four <br />accidents due to deer activity over the last year in the <br />community. Mr. Brokke advised that his staff would continue to <br />work with Ramsey County and monitor the deer population, but <br />was not recon1illending any action at this time due to the lower <br />than expected deer population. <br /> <br />Discussion included migration and habitat areas. <br /> <br />Hear a Report <br />about the Deer <br />Population in <br />Roseville <br />
