Consider Items Removed from Consent <br /> a. Approve Contract for Commissioning Services for New Fire Station Project <br /> (former Consent Item 7.h) <br /> At the request of Mayor Roe, City Manager Malinen reviewed the request as de- <br /> tailed in the RCA dated February 27, 2012. <br /> Councilmember McGehee sought clarification that this contract included HVAC <br /> systems as well. <br /> City Manager Malinen assured Councilmembers that the contract included <br /> HAVAC system; with the firm of Karges-Faulconbridge, Inc. (KFI) having previ- <br /> ously worked with the City on the geothermal studies and installation at the Skat- <br /> ing Center. <br /> Councilmember McGehee stated that her rationale in highlighting this item was to <br /> again advocate for the City considering LEED Certified construction for the Fire <br /> Station as part of its ongoing strategic planning exercises. <br /> Councilmember Johnson sought clarification on KFI's opinions on existing un- <br /> derground field and use of that technology for the Public Works and City Hall fa- <br /> cilities. <br /> City Manager Malinen advised that the KFI report, when finalized, would include <br /> that analysis to address the entire City campus. <br /> Fire Chief Tim O'Neill added that the KFI contract included multiple pieces, in- <br /> cluding an analysis of the new fire stations HVAC system and how it impacts the <br /> campus Master Plan completed several years ago, and now being updated as part <br /> of the KFI contract. Chief O'Neill advised that the intent was to use the excess <br />
