City Council Regular Meeting - 06/14/04 Minutes - Page 2 prepared meeting Agenda. Deb Mosby, 935 Sherren, Roseville Ms. Mosby related that both her parents had been smokers and were now deceased. Ms. Mosby noted that her addressing groups to encourage their support of banned smoking at restaurants and bars served as her memorial to her parents, thanking the City Council for allowing time for her to present her prepared statement. Ms. Mosby provided demographic information related to the harmful effects of second hand smoke and encouraged the City Council to support clean indoor air for bars and restaurants. B. Carol Diemert, 875 Transit Avenue Ms. Diemert concurred with Ms. Mosby's comments regarding her encouragement of the City Council's support for clean indoor air for bars and restaurants; from her perspective as a nurse and specifically related to hospitality industry employees. C. Jeannie Weigum Ms. Weigum shared written language from the City of St. Paul's ordinance, as currently amended, related to smoking bans in bars and restaurants; and strongly encouraged the City Council to look into this ordinance and similar legislation. D. John Kysylyczyn, 3083 North Victoria Street Mr. Kysylyczyn reiterated the previous speaker's comments related to too many lobbyists at the State Capital; opining that action related to smoking bans in restaurants and bars needed to be handled on a municipal level. Mr. Kysylyczyn reviewed his research and concerns related to the annual salary and compensation package provided to City Manager Neal Beets by employment contract and it's compliance with State Statute. Mr. Kysylyczyn outlined several, comparisons with similarly-sized communities, and questioned certain memberships and professional dues paid by the City for the City Manager.
