AttachmentA <br />OriginalRCA <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> Date: 10/10/2011 <br /> Item No.: <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Fire Department & Allina Hospitals and Clinics Data use Agreement <br />B <br />ACKGROUND <br />1 <br />The Fire Department provides medical first response to the community more than 3,200 times <br />2 <br />annually. Roseville firefighters are trained to provide medical treatments, including medications, <br />3 <br />at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) level. Allina Medical Transportation, <br />4 <br />Roseville Fire Department, and the Coon Rapids Fire Department are interested in studying the <br />5 <br />effects of pre-arrival EMT interventions, with advanced skills, on the long term outcome of <br />6 <br />patients. <br />7 <br />8 <br />Allina Medical Transportation in cooperation with Allina Hospital & Clinics applied for and <br />9 <br />received a grant to study the pre-arrival impacts. As part of the study the Roseville Fire <br />10 <br />Department will be providing Allina with access to our medical records for the purpose of <br />11 <br />reviewing data related to the study. In conjunction with the release of data we will be entering <br />12 <br />into a data use agreement. <br />13 <br />FI <br />INANCIAL MPACTS <br />14 <br />Allina will be reimbursing the fire department in the amount of $2,000 for the time necessary to <br />15 <br />provide data related to the study. <br />16 <br />SR <br />TAFF ECOMMENDATION <br />17 <br />Staff recommends council authorize the Fire Department to enter into a Data Use Agreement <br />18 <br />with Allina Hospitals and Clinics (“Allina Medical Transportation”). <br />19 <br />RCA <br />EQUESTED OUNCIL CTION <br />20 <br />Authorize the Fire Department to enter into a Data Use Agreement with Allina Hospitals and <br />21 <br />Clinics (“Allina Medical Transportation”). <br />22 <br />23 <br />Prepared by: Timothy O’Neill, Fire Chief <br />Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br />
