My 22-year-old daughter, who is deaf and
legally blind, was separated from her unit during the parade in Roseville recently. Rather than panicl she found a Roseville
firefighter to help her. They took Rachel back to the station and called me. They explained the situation and gave me directions
to the station from Inver Grove Heights. While she waited for me, they fed her and carried on great conversations through pen
and paper.

StacYI Guy, John and many more whose names I can't remember: Thank you for all your help. Roseville should be proud that
it has such quality people keeping them safe.

D.M. OlK

Inver Grove Heights

Tainted: The person(s) who planted the invasive plant species, Japanese Knotweed, in a flower garden plot on the Wacouta
Street side in Mears Park in St. Paul. Japanese Knotweed is a very aggressive, escaped ornamental plant native to Asia that
can reach 3 to 10 feet in height and will quickly crowd out all other vegetation. This perennial plant is difficult to control. It
spreads quickly to form dense thickets that exclude native species and is of little value to wildlife, leading it being described as
an environmental weed.

BARBARA NESBITT

Maplewood

Sainted: The Lino Lakes Police Department and the Centennial Fire Department for providing a safety presentation to a group
of preschoolers at Marshan Park on a recent Monday.

Also, the Schwan's representative who noticed the group while driving down Lake Drive, stopped and dropped off ice cream
treats for all the kids.

CHRISTINE l. SAUTER

Lino Lakes

Tainted: I would like to thank the airport taxi driver for his thoughtfulness in cutting through my father's funeral procession
line on June 28. Not only did he cut through the linel but he almost hit my brother on his motorcycle who was riding in front of
me.

It was sad enough that we had to put to rest a Pearl Harbor vet. I felt this was a great disrespect to a war vet and a great
disrespect to us as a family. This man fought for the freedom that you enjoy and you can't have the respect to not cut through
the funeral line. I called the company from my cell phone later that day and the person on the other end did not even say they
were sorry for the incident and would talk to the driver, but said nothing. I would like to thank him again for making it a real
sad day.

TIM lEACH

st. Paul

Sainted: Blessings on columnist Ruben Rosariol who reports on the issues of people needing a public voice. Andl he does it so
well and so consistently.

With so much frivolity in the medial he is our St. Paul treasure, pointing out concern that needs attention.

http://www.twincities.comlmld/pioneerpress/news/editorial/letters/9228183.htm?template=content. .. 7/26/2004
