I have been
listening to a great deal of the council meetings. I am not impressed with the whole idea of spending that much
money on a private, for profit, enterprize. I have several questions that I would like answered:
1. Just how much will this add to my property tax and for how long? My property tax went up 21-1/2% this past
year and I understand that the increases the council is proposing could amount to an additional 16%+. This is
before any costs of the Twin Lakes proposal.
2. Just what is the rationale of the members of the city council who support this project. Please state your reasons
why.
3. This creating new shopping centers only causes the stores to relocate to the newer locations hoping for new
traffic and higher sales. I have seen this happen so often to all the older shopping centers.
4. In the face of an economic downturn, are the homeowners of Roseville going to pay any shortfall? I lived for
many years in St Paul and watched the building of many city projects that failed to cover even the cost of interest
on the loan before they failed and the taxpayers had to pay the total cost and interest.
5. How much has this project cost the City of Roseville to date for staff salaries and for outside consultants?
Gertrude Coad
8/9/2004
