Councilmember <br />Ihlan made special note of the recent informal survey of <br />Roseville restaurants and bar owners performed by Mr. Dino <br />LoBaido of the Roseville Visitors Association. <br /> <br />Councihnember Ihlan noted the purpose of tonight's discussion <br />was to initiate discussions and receive feedback from citizens, <br />business owners, the City Council and other interested parties to <br />be forwarded to Ramsey County as they discuss consideration, <br />implementation, type and breadth of a County-wide, non- <br />smoking ban. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing sought clarification from Councilmember Ihlan <br />as to the status of Ralnsey County's discussions, scheduling of a <br />public hearing on the County level, and whether a County <br />representative would be speaking at tonight's Ineeting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan clarified that the County Board would be <br />meeting Tuesday, August 17, 2004, and at that tin1e scheduling a <br />public hearing for a future meeting; that no one was in <br />attendance at tonight's meeting to speak on behalf of the County; <br />and reiterated the purpose of tonight's discussion. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing opened the meeting to public comment <br />regarding this item. <br /> <br />Brenda Himrich, 1082 Lovell Avenue <br />Ms. Hin1fich spoke in support of improving the working <br />environment of workers in the City of Roseville and spoke in <br />support of a sn10king ban, noting her preference for and support <br />of establishn1ents having implemented a non-smoking <br />atn10sphere, and her personal observations of the apparent <br />economic viability of those establishments. <br /> <br />Rose Masanz, 1007 Grandview <br />Ms. Masanz spoke in support of a non-smoking ban; noting her <br />personal preference and patronization of non-smoking <br />establishments and outdoor public space. <br />
