Councilmember Ihlan made special note of the recent informal survey of Roseville restaurants and bar owners performed by Mr. Dino LoBaido of the Roseville Visitors Association. Councihnember Ihlan noted the purpose of tonight's discussion was to initiate discussions and receive feedback from citizens, business owners, the City Council and other interested parties to be forwarded to Ramsey County as they discuss consideration, implementation, type and breadth of a County-wide, non- smoking ban. Mayor Klausing sought clarification from Councilmember Ihlan as to the status of Ralnsey County's discussions, scheduling of a public hearing on the County level, and whether a County representative would be speaking at tonight's Ineeting. Councilmember Ihlan clarified that the County Board would be meeting Tuesday, August 17, 2004, and at that tin1e scheduling a public hearing for a future meeting; that no one was in attendance at tonight's meeting to speak on behalf of the County; and reiterated the purpose of tonight's discussion. Mayor Klausing opened the meeting to public comment regarding this item. Brenda Himrich, 1082 Lovell Avenue Ms. Hin1fich spoke in support of improving the working environment of workers in the City of Roseville and spoke in support of a sn10king ban, noting her preference for and support of establishn1ents having implemented a non-smoking atn10sphere, and her personal observations of the apparent economic viability of those establishments. Rose Masanz, 1007 Grandview Ms. Masanz spoke in support of a non-smoking ban; noting her personal preference and patronization of non-smoking establishments and outdoor public space.
