<br />City Council Study Session - 09/20/04 <br />Minutes - Page 3 <br /> <br />be considered and scenarios for specific school repurpOSlng <br />based on those criteria. <br /> <br />Ms. Sager reviewed the proposed criteria: neighborhood <br />cohesiveness; geographical balance, diversity and demographic <br />balance; school feeder system; potential savings; comprehensive <br />program; opportunities afforded; age and condition; adaptability <br />and flexibility; repurposing costs; and transportation costs. <br /> <br />Ms. Sager reviewed the process: with Focused Forums on criteria <br />discussion scheduled for the September 13 and September 28 <br />School Board meetings; and Scenario Discussions scheduled at a <br />Focused Forum at the October 26, 2004 School Board meeting; <br />wi th an anticipated decision deadline scheduled for December <br />14, 2004. <br /> <br />Dr. Witthuhn and Ms. Sager encouraged parents, school staff, <br />residents and Councilmembers to provide feedback and input to <br />the School Board prior to that final decision in December. <br />Communication options were provided, including additional <br />information provided on the School's Website at <br />www.moundsviewschools.org with e-mail comments received at <br />repurposing@ITIoundsviewschools.org, by phone or via mail. <br /> <br />Dr. Witthuhn advised that the School Board and staff were <br />attempting to provide responses to Frequently Asked Questions <br />(F AQ's) to better inform the public. <br /> <br />Discussion questions of Councilmembers to Dr. Witthuhn and <br />Ms. Sager included, concern on impact to those in the Roseville <br />School District in the northwest boundary, specifically related to <br />Valentine Hills Elementary School, and redefining those <br />boundaries that might allow less flexibility for parents to open <br />enrollment in the Mounds View District in choosing a high <br />school for their children; fees for co-curricular offerings and <br />impacts on participation levels; potential of preschool system; <br />current K -plus program for parents who wish their Kindergarten <br />students in a full-day program, rather than the half-day program <br />currently funded by the state, with parents picking up the <br />additional half-day funding if they chose that option; current <br />contract with the YMCA on school sites for students who are <br />
