Mr. Beets noted that Fire
Department First Responders and Emergency Medical
Technicians (EMT' s) were required to take continuing
education classes and pass a recertification examination
every two years; and further noted that the Fire Department
had historically reduced the cost of training through outside
agencies. Mr. Beets advised that this year, a bid had been
received from Allina that reduced the cost of training; and
that Allina would provide medical direction for Fire
Department personnel in addition to their medical training.

Councilmember Schroeder sought clarification regarding
the differentiation for EMT or First Responder training, and
whether First Responder was sufficient, rather than the

Allina Contract
First Responder
EMT Training
