Councilmember Schroeder spoke against any added language, noting that the current policy was clean and precise, and additional language would only cloud the intent and open the door to more claims. Councilmember Schroeder opined that staff should be allowed to do their job, and identify reasonable exceptions. Councilmember Maschka concurred with Councilmember Schroeder's comments. Mayor Klausing noted that further discussion could take place when the proposed language revisions came before the Council for action. Mayor Klausing noted that, it seemed a good compromise for the property owner to submit a claim to the City to be determined by the LMCIT. Councilmember Kough requested that the Council direct City Manager Beets or Public Works Director Schwartz to contact the property owner, Ms. Deb Johnson, and provide information to her on the process for submitting a claim. 6. Trailers and Recreational Vehicle Parking Requirements Community Development Director Dennis Welsch noted that this topic had not previously been addressed by staff or the City Council, due to the volatility of the situation. Mr. Welsch noted that the City's language was actually incorporated in the nuisance provisions of the City, not via ordinance. Mr. Welsch recommended several potential revisions regarding recreational vehicles in the city and their storage. Community Development Director Welsch, through bench handout, recommended that language be revised that "large (over 3,00 pounds) non-motorized RV's must be on paved driveways, similar to motorized RV's. Mr. Welsch further suggested that additional revisions could include revising definitions for trailers as per state statute; and noted that staff awaited Council directive.
