Citizen Advisory COlllinission Survey

Page 1 of2

Beets, Neal

From: Anderson, Todd (BLM) [Todd.Anderson@express-scripts.com]
Sent: Wednesday, November 10, 2004 3:00 PM
To: neal.beets@cLroseville.mn.us
Subject: Citizen Advisory Commission Survey

Dear Mr. Beets,

I apologize again for the tardiness of my response. Its just been one of those weeks.

So, without further delay, here we go.

1. Do you think the size of your citizen advisory commission is:
A. About right. 5 members seem to work fine for our commission.

2. Do you think the length of your term is:
A. About right. 3 years is a sufficient amount of time to serve.

3. Do you agree with a limit of two terms?
-In all honesty, I don't feel all that strongly either way on this specific item. However, I guess I do feel that term
limits should apply at some point, to encourage new faces, new blood, and new viewpoints on our commissions.
just don't know if it should be a limit of two terms or three terms.

4. Regarding the reappointment process:
-I do agree that the City Council should re-interview and re-evaluate sitting commission members who seek
reappointment. A member of one of our citizen advisory commissions should never be just "rubber stamped"
back on a commission.

5. Should the Public Works and Transportation Commission address environmental issues not currently being
handled by Parks and Rec?

-I have to admit that I am personally interested in this proposition, and really enjoy discussing issues of this
nature, but do not know how it would be applied. One legitimate concern is what are these other "environmental
issues" not being handled by Parks and Rec? Roseville's storm water management plan is certainly an
environmental issue that has come before our commission, but what other environmental issues would come
before us? Lets not change our commission's name for the sake of just one environmental issue.

6. Any other information to give to the City Council?
-It would be nice to see a Council member from time to time attend one of our meetings, if time permits. I just feel
that it could lead to a thoughtful discussion and exchange on a particular topic or issue, which would benefit us all.

Mr. Beets, thanks for the opportunity to respond to the survey.

Todd Anderson

11/15/2004
