<br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />Date: 11/22/04 <br /> <br />Item No.: 8.a <br /> <br />Department Approval: <br />~;(.. ~ <br /> <br />Manager Reviewed <br /> <br />Agenda Section <br /> <br /> <br />Hearings <br /> <br />Description: Liquor License renewals for the year 2005. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />Staff is in the process of renewing all liquor licenses for the year 2005. The licenses to be renewed <br />include, ten (10) Off-Sale Intoxicating (maximum of 10 allowed by City ordinance), twenty-three <br />(23) On Sale Intoxicating, four (4) Club, nine (9) Wine, sixteen (16) On-Sale 3.2 Non-Intoxicating <br />Malt Liquor, nine (9) Off-Sale 3.2 Non-Intoxicating Malt Liquor (City ordinance or state statute do <br />not limit the number of the last five types of licenses). The Police Chiefhas reviewed the records, <br />and finds no reasons for denial of the licenses. The City Attorney will review the applications prior <br />to the issuance of licenses to ensure they are in order. <br /> <br />Financial Implications <br /> <br />The estimated revenue of$193,790 that is generated from the license fees collected is used to offset <br />the cost of police compliance checks, background investigations, enforcement of liquor laws, and <br />license administration. <br /> <br />Council Action <br /> <br />Motion approving/denying the renewal of the following liquor licenses for calendar year 2005 with <br />the condition that all required application items be submitted before the licenses may be issued. <br />
