Beets. Neal

From: Schwartz, Duane
Sent: Thursday, January 23,2003 12:16 PM
To: Beets, Neal; Welsch, Dennis; Brokke, Lonnie; Bloom, Deb
Subject: FW: County Rd. C Streetscape

FYI
Duane
-----Original Message-----
From: Jackie Schroeder [mailto:jjsgas@attbi.com]
Sent: Wednesday, January 22, 2003 10:30 PM
To: city.council@ci.roseville.mn.us
Cc: duane.schwartz@ci.roseville.mn.us
Subject: County Rd. C Streetscape

I would like to comment on the County Road C Streetscape that will be discussed at the Monday night City
Council meeting.

I do not feel I should have to pay for burying electrical distribution lines or replacing lattice towers with monopoles.
We are living in a well developed suburb and these are not feasible or economical projects to undertake. It
sounds like you would be doing this for purely aesthetic reasons on the County Road C Streetscape project and
my question to you is, what makes this stretch of road more important than any other neighborhood in the city? I
take pride in my neighborhood looking nice too, but I also realize we are not living in a new suburb where we can
bury electrical lines easily or economically. This goes for the perfectly good lattice towers too. I must say I did not
even think much about them until this Streetscape project has been in the news. I just accepted the fact that we
had these major electrical lines going through our city and went on with my life.

We need to think about what is really important to the residents of Roseville. Residents talk about the fact that
they don't feel safe in our parks, traffic laws are not being abided by, the cost of maintaining ours current services
keeps going up, etc. We could use that money to increase our police force so they could patrol the parks more
and enforce our traffic laws. We need to make sure we have the resources to maintain the pathways, parks,
roadways and services we now enjoy.

I would like to suggest that you just let the county address the traffic flow issue on County Road C and upgrade
the road. Roseville can just make sure we keep the grass mowed and the litter picked up and that will enhance
the look of the road immensely.

Jackie Schroeder
Roseville Resident

01/27/2003
