<br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING <br />OF THE <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br /> <br />* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City <br />of Roseville, County of Rmnsey, Minnesota was duly held on the 13th day of March, <br />2006, at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />The following menlbers were present: Pust, Ihlan & Klausing <br />and the following were absent: Kough and Maschka.. <br /> <br />Member Pust introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION No. 10384 <br />RESOLUTION AFFIRMING ROSEVILLE'S FIT-FRIENDLY COMMITMENT <br />BY COMMUNITY LEADERS AS OUTLINED IN THE GOVERNORS FIT CITY <br />PROGRAM ADMINISTERED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Roseville recognizes that active living is a way of life that <br />integrates physical activity into daily routines; the goal is to accumulate at least 30 <br />minutes of activity each day. Individuals may do this is a variety of ways such as <br />walking or bicycling for transportation, exercise or pleasure; playing in the park; working <br />in the yard; taking the stairs; using recreation facilities; taking part in recreation <br />progrmns, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Roseville affinns activity-friendly comlnitlnents such as: <br />. Developing a cohesive systeln of parks and trails, incorporating accessible <br />neighborhood parks. <br />. Establishing process to assess and ilnprove existing local active living <br />infrastructure. <br />. Supporting Recreation programs that encourage active living. <br />. Ensuring that physical activity facilities are accessible and affordable. <br />. Creating walkable routes to existing schools. <br />. Introducing active living issues, such as walkable cormnunities, into public <br />dialogue. <br />. Increasing measures for pedestrian and bicyclist safety, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Roseville, is comlnitted to establishing an activity friendly <br />community for its residents. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby authorizes the <br />application for The Governor's Fit City Program. <br />
