EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Roseville, County of Rmnsey, Minnesota was duly held on the 13th day of March, 2006, at 6:00 p.m. The following menlbers were present: Pust, Ihlan & Klausing and the following were absent: Kough and Maschka.. Member Pust introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION No. 10384 RESOLUTION AFFIRMING ROSEVILLE'S FIT-FRIENDLY COMMITMENT BY COMMUNITY LEADERS AS OUTLINED IN THE GOVERNORS FIT CITY PROGRAM ADMINISTERED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH WHEREAS, the City of Roseville recognizes that active living is a way of life that integrates physical activity into daily routines; the goal is to accumulate at least 30 minutes of activity each day. Individuals may do this is a variety of ways such as walking or bicycling for transportation, exercise or pleasure; playing in the park; working in the yard; taking the stairs; using recreation facilities; taking part in recreation progrmns, and WHEREAS, the City of Roseville affinns activity-friendly comlnitlnents such as: . Developing a cohesive systeln of parks and trails, incorporating accessible neighborhood parks. . Establishing process to assess and ilnprove existing local active living infrastructure. . Supporting Recreation programs that encourage active living. . Ensuring that physical activity facilities are accessible and affordable. . Creating walkable routes to existing schools. . Introducing active living issues, such as walkable cormnunities, into public dialogue. . Increasing measures for pedestrian and bicyclist safety, and WHEREAS, the City of Roseville, is comlnitted to establishing an activity friendly community for its residents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby authorizes the application for The Governor's Fit City Program.
