<br /> <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Board of <br /> <br />Ramsey County Commissioners <br /> <br />,...rsented By <br />. ention: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Commissioner Bennett <br /> <br />Budgeting and Accounting <br />Bob Fletcher, Sheriff <br /> <br />Date <br /> <br />May 27, <br /> <br />2003 No. 2003-167 <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Effective public safety communication is in the best interest of the <br />citizens of Ramsey County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, In 1998, the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners approved <br />(#98-079) the Ramsey County/Saint Paul/Local Government Public Safety Radio <br />Communication Study Committee's Report for submission to the Metropolitan Radio <br />Board as required by State Statute; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, In Resolution 98-079, Ramsey County chose not to migrate to the <br />Metropolitan Radio Board's Metropolitan Public Safety Communication System <br />(800M Hz) during phase one; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Resolution 98-079 indicated that the County may want to join the <br />system at a later date and, if it did, the County with its municipalities should jointly plan <br />a single, countywide subsystem; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Radio Board is completing phase one of the Metropolitan Public <br />Safety Communication System; beginning phase two, and encouraging the remaining <br />eligible Twin Cities jurisdictions to develop subsystems; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Radio Board has developed a proposed plan for backbone <br />infrastructure and dispatch center console equipment needs for potential Ramsey <br />County subsystems, and has estimated the related capital equipment costs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Ramsey County Board of Commissioners discussed the <br />development of a Public Safety Communication subsystem during a policy discussion <br />on April 1, 2003; participated in a workshop on May 13, 2003, and held another policy <br />discussion on May 20, 20003; Now, Therefore, Be It <br /> <br /> <br />OTHER <br /> <br />.. ~ennett <br />.gh <br />McDonough <br />el Onega <br />; ori'll Reinhardt <br />I ce Rettman <br />I Wiessner <br /> <br />Jim McDonough, Chair <br /> <br />(Continued) <br /> <br />By <br /> <br />Bonnie C.
