This will include traffic accidents with injuries and major traumas
(shootings/stabbings/fall off a roof, etc.). Training on protocols and medical procedures
will begin soon. From the data provided from Allina, this should increase our call volume
about 350 calls per year (or just under one per day). The medicals will only be handled
by the on-duty crews. There will be no callbacks from home for medical calls.
Firefighters will be given the option as to whether they want to participate in medical
responses. However, everyone who works shifts will be required to respond to medical
calls and participate in providing medical care. So those who choose not to be part of
the medical response program will not be able to work shifts. More details about how the
program will work will be shared at the August department meetings and during the medical
training sessions conducted for the shift crews. Questions to 900, 910 or 930.

Timothy O'Neill
Assistant Fire Chief

Office- 651-490-2290
Fax- 651-484-0967
Cell -651-775-3564
pager- 651-847-1552

1
