REQUEST FOR Date: 9/15/2003 "/' I Item No:XrL.) ~ Department Aw,val: ~ Manager Approved: 7u~~ Agenda Section: Consent Item Description: Approving a Lease Agreement with Sprint PCS for Leasing Space on the City Hall Campus Monopole Background On June 16, 2003, the City Council approved the construction of a 100' monopole, to be located at the City Hall Campus, immediately adjacent to the southeast corner of the Public Works Facility. City Staff have approved the site plan for the monopole and expect the pole to be erected in the next 30-60 days. A copy of the site plan is attached. The monopole is being constructed and erected by Sprint PCS who. is prepared to enter into a lease agreement with the City. Over the past few months, City Staff and the City Attorney have negotiated a lease with Sprint PCS, a copy of which is attached and submitted for Council review and approval. Discussion Items The lease agreement is consistent with prior lease agreelnents and CUlTent Inarket conditions both in the terms and in lease amount. The lease calls for the following: o Five year initial term, cOlnnlencing September 15, 2003, and ending Septelnber 15, 2008. o Sprint PCS has the right to renew the lease for four (4) additional five-year terms subject to terms of the original lease. o Sprint PCS shall pay the City annual rent of $22,000 per year, with automatic increases of3% per annum. gv' Sprint PCS' s antenna equipment will be placed at approximately ~', which should all~w for additional antennae without any further modifications to the monopole.
