REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> Date: 4-9-12 <br /> Item No.:7.f <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Approve Recreation Agreement with the City of Lauderdale <br />B <br />ACKGROUND <br />1 <br />It has been a practice for the City of Roseville Parks and Recreation Department to work with surrounding <br />2 <br />communities to provide and enhance quality parks and recreation programs and services for the primary <br />3 <br />benefit of Roseville Citizens and to share services where possible, practical and is a benefit to all <br />4 <br />communities involved. <br />5 <br />6 <br />In 2011 the City of Roseville formalized an agreement with the City of Lauderdale to provide recreation <br />7 <br />programs. The arrangement worked well in 2011 and Lauderdale is requesting the same arrangement. Staff <br />8 <br />is supportive and is proposing to renew the attached agreement. <br />9 <br />10 <br />The proposed agreement provides several recreation program services to the City of Lauderdale between <br />11 <br />thth <br />June 18, 2012 and August 14, 2012. The agreement had been reviewed by the City Attorney and is <br />12 <br />recommended for approval by staff. <br />13 <br />14 <br />Generally, the agreement allows for the City of Lauderdale residents to receive: <br />15 <br />1.Existing Roseville Summer Recreation Programs offerings at a resident rate <br />16 <br />2.Summer Recreation Programs at Lauderdale Community Park between the dates of June <br />17 <br />thth <br />18 and August 14, 2012. <br />18 <br />3.The popular Puppet Wagon performances at Lauderdale Community Park one day per week <br />19 <br />and at their annual community “day in the park” celebration. <br />20 <br />21 <br />In exchange, Roseville Parks and Recreation will receive: <br />22 <br />1.Payment for the difference between the resident fee and non-resident fee by the City of <br />23 <br /> Lauderdale. <br />24 <br />2.Payment for the Puppet Wagon appearances at the agreed upon rate <br />25 <br />3.Access to the Lauderdale facilities at the agreed upon times <br />26 <br />27 <br />This agreement is consistent with the vision of the recently adopted Parks and Recreation System Master <br />28 <br />Plan and with the encouragement of exploring shared services. <br />29 <br />30 <br />The agreement benefits Roseville financially and programmatically and affords the City of Lauderdale the <br />31 <br />opportunity for their residents to participate in an expanded array of recreation programs. <br />32 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />
